If you only know who Karlie Kloss is because of Taylor Swift;
if the only fashion show you’ve ever seen has been Victoria’s Secret;
if the only models you can name are Cara Delevingne and Kendall Jenner;
if you’ve ever described Karlie as “a Victoria’s secret model”;
then, my friend, this post is for you.
Karlie Kloss is one of the most talented models working in the industry today. She is absolutely exceptional, and I believe that she is the only true supermodel of our generation.

I’m just some girl with a tumblr, so you’re not going to believe me when I tell you how amazing Karlie Kloss is. How about we let some industry professionals tell you?

A model, you may think, is just a tall girl who can fit into a sample size, and has a bland but photogenic face. You would be right. That’s a model. But Karlie is a supermodel, and there’s a difference.
A supermodel like Karlie is someone who is able to be different things to everybody. A fashion show, an editorial, an advertising campaign: these are performances. Fashion is theater. Each show, each look, each photoshoot, there is a character, a concept that needs to be embodied. Karlie is one of the few who seems to understand that, and one of the few who performs on a runway, instead of just walking down it. She is a chameleon who is able to absolutely become the character needed, and there is a vanishingly small number of models today who are able to do that.
Let’s look at some examples from her editorial work that show her diversity.
This post and this one are from Karlie’s first ever real photo-shoot (by which I mean, for an actual magazine people read, not for Macy’s inserts or Abercrombie Kids). She was photographed by Arthur Elgort for Teen Vogue in 2007, when she was in eighth grade.
In 2008, she was in Russh magazine, all grunge and glamour (and a freshman in high school).
Here she is in the Dior S/S 2010 advertising campaign, barely two years later. Suddenly, she’s Lauren Bacall.
Or what about the American in Paris photoshoot she did with Angelo Pennetta (one of my all time favourite editorials she’s ever done)? Or the Alastair McLellan Born in the USA photoshoot for British Vogue? Or this 2012 photoshoot with Greg Kadel for Numéro? Or this one for L’Express Styles?
There are literally hundreds more editorials she’s been in, some probably better than these - these are just the ones I’ve posted on tumblr so far and so had easy access to.

And we haven’t even began to discuss her walk - my god, that walk. I firmly believe she could go toe-to-toe with the likes of Naomi Campbell and Pat Cleveland for the greatest walk of all time.
